Geotechnical Testing
SAND CONE
EDESSA has a sand cone apparatus in order to calculate accurate soil densities in the field.
EDESSA team is also trained at the use of nuclear density meters for instantaneous moisture and density testing.

SPIKE PROBE
This equipment imported from the US is available to EDESSA. It consists of a steel rod that is hammered in the ground by means of the load handle that slides up the rod and is dropped onto the rod. The subsurface resistance and the number of blow counts gives an indication of relative density of the underlying soil up to a depth of 1m. This tool is very useful for assessing the presence of rock within the one-meter horizon.
ELE SOIL CLASSIFICATIONS TESTING
EDESSA is equipped to conduct a number of laboratory tests using state-of-the art laboratory equipment from ELE. These tests include:
- Dry and wet sieving
- Hydrometer
- Atterberg limits
- Drying oven
- Proctor tests
EDESSA is able to setup a mobile laboratory in the field for specific project.

Topographic Survey
LEICA TOTAL STATION
EDESSA is equipped to conduct high accuracy topographic surveys using a new generation LEICA total Station.
EDESSA’s team is experience in conducting topographic surveys for setting up points, for area and distance calculation or for production of topographic contour maps with key site features.
PORTABLE HIGH ACCURACY GPS
EDESSA has a portable high accuracy GPS capable of recording coordinates including elevations, producing routes, calculating areas and transferring the field collected data to the computer for further data processing and analysis. |
